What I love about dAYOne IS THAT THE CAMARADERIE BETWEEN SINGERS IS AMAZING. iT'S ALWAYS MORE FUN BEING PART OF A GROUP THAN BEING ON YOUR OWN.
Charity Michelle Walters was born July 7th , 1982. According to her mother, "She sang before she could talk." Nothing has changed about that. Born to preachers in Kentucky, Charity began her vocal journey by singing in church. With influences like Crystal Lewis and Amy Grant, she fell in love with her own kind of music, a soulful mix of gospel and blues.
At age 18, Charity recorded her debut album, "Transformation," a tribute to her change from a small town girl into a mainstream music symbol. She was asked to open for gospel group, "ColourBlind," on their tour throughout Europe and the United States.
With unforgettable stage experience under her belt, Charity decided to enroll at Belmont University in 2002 to further her education of the music business. There, she immersed herself in the musical culture of Nashville, was chosen to participate in the esteemed Christian Music Showcase, and accepted the opportunity to attend Belmont East, a program that allows music business students to study and intern in New York City for a semester. Working at Sony BMG and seeing the success of grassroots marketing firsthand, Charity came to the realization it was time to return to her first love, making music. She says, "I can't remember ever wanting to do anything else and I could no longer deny my passion for the stage.”
Upon her return to the Nashville, Charity focused on her craft as a songwriter, observing the successful and recognizing the equation for a hit song. In the midst of writing and performing Charity found personal bliss when she married fellow musician, Brett Byars. “It’s amazing having someone there on the journey with you that truly understands you, and the ups and downs of the music business.” In 2014 they welcomed their daughter, McCartney Grace. “She definitely has a knack for all things musical. It has been quite a journey, motherhood, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
In the last 14 years she has shared the stage with Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Kristen Kelly, Gary Allan, and “The Voice” runner-up Meghan Linsey. Charity is now a stay at home mom and calls it “the gig of a lifetime.” She continues to tour on weekends and has developed a vocal style uniquely her own. Emotional, rich, controlled, and flawless she compels all of your senses with a stage performance that you can't take your eyes from.
Charity is a true performer who can capture a moment in a song, and show the world how she feels with a talent that is purely hers’ alone. Undoubtedly possessing all the traits needed for lasting success, Charity will revolutionize the world of music.
